Mountain Grove utilizes a Mayor/City Council/City Administrator form of government.
Mountain Grove has a volunteer fire department with a current ISO rating of 6, a police department with a full-time police chief and 9 full-time police officers and 24 hour dispatching, a water and sewer department supervisor, street supervisor and a park board which oversees the parks. Mountain Grove also offers an airport with a 3600-foot lighted runway.
